Linda Nolan has revealed that she was targeted by convicted sex offender and disgraced entertainer Rolf Harris.
The Fylde coast favourite told a national newspaper how he kissed her neck when she was just 15.
At the time, she and her sisters were on a six-week stint supporting Harris, who was last week jailed for five years and nine months for sexually assaulting young girls, on a tour of South Africa.
Linda, 55, told how she was left terrified after he got her in a bear hug before a performance in Johannesburg in 1975, at the beginning of the Nolan sisters’ rise to fame.
She said: “I had been to the loo and was walking to our dressing room.
“He suddenly came out of nowhere and in seconds his hands were all over me.”
She went on to describe how he touched her inappropriately.
“He rubbed up and down and started kissing and licking the back of my neck,” she added.
She said the abuse her sister Coleen got after speaking of her own abuse at the hands of Jimmy Savile was the reason she kept quiet over the attack. She is one of several people to speak out following the conclusion of Harris’ trial last week. He was convicted of 12 counts of sexual assault against four victims.
His sentence, handed down on Friday, has been referred to the Attorney General’s Office under the “unduly lenient sentence scheme”.
