A man accused of multiple sex offences including rape has made his first appearance before a magistrates’ court.
John McVan, 64, of Meadow Point, Sower Carr Lane, Hambleton, is charged with raping a girl under 16 and two offences of indecently assaulting her at Cleveleys.
The historical offences are said to have occurred between December 1985 and December 1986.
He is also accused of two offences of sexually touching a 16-year-old girl at Hambleton between 2012 and last year.
McVan is additionally charged with four offences of possess extreme pornography, at Hambleton in May last year, magistrates in Blackpool were told at a hearing yesterday.
Prosecutor Tracy Yates’ application for the case to be heard at crown court was not opposed by defence lawyer Brett Chappell.
McVan was bailed by District Judge John Maxwell.
He will now appear at Preston Crown Court on May 21 for a preliminary hearing.
He was released on bail but Judge Maxwell told him he must live at his given address and not have unsupervised contact with any child under 16 as conditions of his bail.
