A fund-raising afternoon is being held in the memory of a woman who died of breast cancer four weeks ago.

Carol Brogden, 63, of
Hobart Place, Anchorsholme, was diagnosed with the disease 11 months ago, and her friends and family have organised an event at the Wainwright Club on Hornby Road next month.

It will include children’s entertainment, live music, a tombola and raffle.

It is hoped the money raised will help pay for
Carol’s funeral and allow her family to buy a nice headstone for her.

Carol’s daughter Kelli, said: “We’ve had to borrow money to be able to pay for the funeral, and we want to be able to pay it back.

“We’re grateful for any support.”

The event is on July 6 from 2pm.
