An NHS employee is set to get all in a spin as she embarks on a 12-hour challenge.
Fiona Jones, patient experience officer at Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, will spend 12 hours on an exercise bike to raise money for the trust’s charity, the Blue Skies Hospital’s Fund.
Her challenge will take place on July 30 at the Blackpool Victoria Hospital’s new main entrance.
Alongside her bike will be two others, manned by volunteers, nurses and other hospital staff on a rota.
Fiona said: “This is going to be tough.
“I love going to spin classes and keeping fit but to keep going for that long is going to put a lot of strain on the legs.
“We have a lot of support from local gym Fitness@blackpoolFC, which has provided the bikes for the day. Louise Rothwell from the gym will be on the other bike for the full 12 hours too.
“I want to thank them for all they have done.”
The money raised from the event will go to Blue Skies, which has agreed to pass the money back to the Trust in aid of helping the children’s wards.
The ward also welcomes donations of craft materials and toys directly.
The Challenge will start at 8.30am and continue until 8.30pm in the main entrance of the hospital on the mezzanine level.
