Lifeboat volunteers received two call outs to stranded families this afternoon.

Teams from Lytham Coastguard and Blackpool RNLI rushed to a sand bank opposite the Pleasure Beach when they received reports that two adults and a baby were trapped by the incoming tide at 1.30pm.

The emergency crews were deployed to the bank, in South Shore, but the family had already made their way to safety by wading through the incoming water.

Twenty minutes later, the same crews were sent to Cleveleys to rescue two people and a dog, which were cut off by the tide.

However, all three members of the family had found their way back on to dry land as the coastguard arrived at the scene.

No-one was injured.
