Crime news

An electrician was over the alcohol limit when he crashed his car into a taxi causing extensive damage to both vehicles.

Jordan Ives, 26, of Briarfield Road, Poulton, pleaded guilty to driving with excess alcohol.

A breath test showed 60 micrograms of alcohol - 35 is the limit.

He was banned from the road for 18 months and fined £300 with £85 costs plus £30 victims’ surcharge by District Judge Pamela Baldwin sitting at Blackpool Magistrates’ Court.

David Charnley, defending, said his client, who had no previous convictions, believed he may lose his job as he needed a car for work.

Ives had only driven a short distance and he was a decent hard-working man who had made a
mistake, the court heard.
