Council chiefs will make a final decision next week on whether to sell off Garstang’s Business Centre.
The move could bring to an end a long-running saga over the future of the council-owned community hub in High Street.
If Wyre Council’s cabinet gives the go-ahead to dispose of the centre at its meeting on June 18, it would signal an opportunity for Garstang Town Council to request to bid for the building, which earlier this year was made an Asset of Community Value.
The councils have been in discussions in a bid to try to preserve a dedicated community centre for the town.
Garstang mayor Graham Salisbury is the chairman of a working party and has been investigating the feasibility of purchasing the building and options for raising funds.
