Myerscough College's new Veterinary Nursing Centre is holding a dog blood donation event

Vets are calling on pet owners to take their dogs to a canine blood donation session at Myerscough College’s new Veterinary Nursing Centre.

Canine blood transfusions are being increasingly performed in vet practices – one blood donation can potentially help up to four other dogs.

There is certain criteria for donor dogs, including being within a certain age and weight range.

Vets will also microchip the dog, if they aren’t already, and give a full veterinary health check and blood screen free of charge.

The session is being held on March 19 at the Bilsborrow campus.
