A teenager needed hospital treatment after he was punched in the head during an unprovoked attack.
The 16-year-old was approached by a man on a bike on Central Drive close to the mini roundabout near to the Co-Op, at around 7.45pm on June 4.
He was hit in the head causing him to fall over, and continually punched in the head and face while he was on the floor.
The boy suffered bruising and swelling and was treated in hospital.
Police have described the offender as white, of a muscley build and unclean.
He was wearing a hooded top with the hood up, a dark coloured jacket worn over the hoody, and dark coloured jeans.
PC Jenny Wilson said: “This was a nasty and seemingly unprovoked assault which left the teenager bruised and shaken.
“If anybody witnessed this incident or has any information about it then I would urge them to contact police.
“I would also like to speak with anybody who thinks they recognise or may know the man captured on CCTV.”
