ST Annes swimming pool could soon become part of a £625,000 makeover.

The baths, on South Promenade, is currently owned by Fylde Coast YMCA.

Fylde Council will meet on Monday night to discuss releasing the fully-funded amount of £25,000 towards the project, which will see significant improvements go towards the changing facilities.

Fylde Coast YMCA has already generated £25,000 towards the plans, with a further £75,000 still to be secured.

With the money from the council and the YMCA, it is hoped that a further £500,000 will be secured from Sport England, which has invited the YMCA to apply for funding.

Since re-opening in September 2010, at a cost of £475,000, the baths has proved popular, with significant improvements in visitor numbers and a full seven-day activity programme on offer.

However, in a Sport England expression of interest report, the building is described as: “becoming very dated and does not meet modern customer expectations.” Work could start in April next year.
