Sealed with a kiss – this happy couple have celebrated 50 years of happy marriage together.

Susan and Roger Crook marked their golden wedding anniversary on Friday, and according to Mrs Crook the secret to so many years together has been to “take each day as it comes”.

She said: “I can’t believe where the years have gone.

“The secret is really to take each day as it comes, hard work and not to look back.

“Take each day as it comes and enjoy each other.”

Mr Crook, 73, and Mrs Crook, 69, first met at a village dance at Little Yeldham, in the Essex-Suffolk borders, where they originally come from.

They married two years later and have since had five children, 17 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Mr Crook worked in a factory while Mrs Crook worked for Boots the chemist, until relocating to Blackpool in 1988 when Mr Crook took a job in Kirkham.

The couple, who are now retired, live at Lune Grove, South Shore.

Mrs Crook added: “At the time we just felt like a change.

“We came to Blackpool and we love it here.”
