A young child was taken to hospital after a collision with a car, sparking traffic chaos on Blackpool Promenade.
And in a separate incident, a vehicle caught fire between central and north piers, causing more tailbacks at the height of the Saturday night Illuminations traffic.
The child was taken to Blackpool Victoria Hospital after the collision, which happened at around 6.30pm on Saturday between Talbot Square and Bonny Street.
A police spokesman was unable to confirm if the child was male or female but said the injuries were not “life threatening” and the child was expected to recover.
No arrests have been made in connection with the incident.
But the collision meant that parts of the promenade had to be closed for two hours between 6.30-8.30pm, sparking heavy tailbacks in the area as traffic arrived for the Illuminations.
And in a separate incident, a Vauxhall Zafira with a family of four inside caught fire at around 7.30pm.
A fire spokesman said: “There was an electrical fault with the car which caused the fire but fortunately the family managed to evacuate the car quickly and no one was harmed.”
Part of the promenade again had to be closed for a further 15-20 minutes.
