HIGHFIELD Humanities College is buzzing with excitement ahead of the Young Engineers final next week.

With a first place prize of £10,000 up for grabs, pupils are alive to the possibility it is well within their reach.

A team from the school on Highfield Road, South Shore, is in the final of the STEM Skills Challenge, run by The Gazette with Cuadrilla Resources and Blackpool and The Fylde College, which hopes to inspire a love of the STEM (science, technology, engineering and maths) subjects in youngsters.

All Year Nine pupils tried out the balloon buggy task this week, with members of the competing teams offering winning tips to their classmates.
