If Father Christmas brought people a new bike for Christmas and they are looking to make space for it Blackpool Council will help dispose of old one.
The council’s Sustainable Travel Team will collect and recycle old cycles for free.
The team will take away any old or unwanted bikes and scooters this month for them to be restored and brought back into use for others.
Coun Fred Jackson, cabinet member for streets and transport said: “A new bike is one of the most popular Christmas presents and hundreds of families across Blackpool will have received them.
“Rather than leaving your old bikes to rust in the garage, why not get in touch and make sure they can be looked after and restored for somebody else to use.”
The bikes will be cleaned up, repaired and restored by the Sustainable Travel Team’s engineers who will then ensure they are fit for use by others.
Cyclists can either drop off their transport at the council’s depot or arrange to have them picked up.
Bikes can be dropped off at Layton Depot near Mowbray Drive.
Simply call the same number (01253) 476261 from the reception and an officer will come and collect your donation.
They can also be picked up by council staff free of charge – to arrange call (01253) 476261 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
