Clare's work recognised with fellowship

A Blackpool expert in child development has been awarded a prestigious Winston Churchill Fellowship in recognition of her work.

Clare Law, development manager at Blackpool’s Centre for Early Child Development, will use the opportunity to learn from innovative programmes in other countries to deliver policy for Blackpool Better Start.

In her current role Clare already looks at projects from around the world to emulate successful parenting programmes.

These include Survivor Mums for pregnant women who have suffered early trauma which originated in Michigan, USA, and Parents under Pressure for parents suffering from substance abuse, which originated in Australia.

She said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for me to take my passion for early years prevention and intervention and gain further focus and vision for future projects in Blackpool.

“My research in the area of trauma focused interventions and also the wider systems change required in relation to trauma informed care will support the work currently being achieved by Blackpool Better Start.”
