Neve Thomas, 12, from Cumberland Avenue, Blackpool, was awarded the role of lead singer for the first half of The Snowman Tour 2016, which comes to the world-famous Tower Ballroom this winter.

Neve, who is a Year 8 pupil at St Bede’s Catholic High School in Lytham, is set to be the star of the tour’s newly-introduced re-telling of the classic fairytale Cinderella, which will run for the first half of the show.

Her rendition of a song called ‘Close Your Eyes’ will accompany soulful orchestral music and a big-screen depiction of Cinderella’s journey from scullery maid to belle of the ball.

Her mum Lisa Thomas said: “I’m very, very pleased and very proud of her.

“Neve has been singing constantly ever since she was little, but this will be the first time she has ever performed on stage. She’s constantly practicing. The whole house is very noisy because she sings all day!”

Neve was given the role of lead singer in the Carrot Productions tour after attending an audition at the Blackpool Music Service on October 10.

Neve said: “I’m really excited and I’m really happy as well. I didn’t think I would get it.

“My family and friends are all really happy for me and proud of me, and some of them want to come and watch the show.”

The Snowman Tour, which promises to be a ‘magical’ introduction to classical music, will come to the Blackpool Tower Ballroom on December 18 from 2.30pm until 4pm, and then at 6.00pm until 7.30pm.

Tickets cost £17.50 for adults and £12.50 for children aged three to 14.
