AN animal charity has received £450 in donations in memory of its most famous resident which died last month.
Generous benefactors have given the cash to St Annes Cat Rescue which has set up a special fund to remember Charlie the cat, who had to be put to sleep.
He battled mobility problems all his life but was able to move around in a special mobility cart paid for by Gazette readers.
Christine Ashton, of Cat Rescue said: “We have also been touched by the number of people who have visited with bulbs to go on his grave as people knew he liked to sit among the flowers.”
Charlie’s fund will be used to help other cats with special needs.
The charity is also appealing for someone to donate a washing machine to wash the cat blankets after the previous one broke down.
Call the charity on (01253) 720357. They can collect.
