Guests at a Blackpool hotel had to do a double take when a reigning darts champion walked in.
Friday night took an unexpected twist for bosses at the Bond Hotel, on Bond Street, when Phil “The Power” Taylor, showed up to visit a family friend.
And it wasn’t just a flying visit as he stayed for the evening, even joining in with singing and dancing.
The Bond’s weekend manager, Graham Atkinson, said: “I think his cousin was supporting a resident here, so he just popped in.
“He was taking part in the singing and dancing, and seemed to really enjoy himself.
“Our guests certainly enjoyed it.”
Phil was in town to compete in the World Matchplay Darts, held over the weekend at the Winter Gardens.
He came away victorious after Sunday night’s final following his defeat over Michael van Gerwen.
It’s the 15th time he has won the title.
“Being in such good spirits at our hotel may have helped him on his way,” Graham said.
“We had 80-odd people in at the time – it was a fantastic night. They’re all following the darts now.”
Phil also spent time speaking to several of the hotel guests and posed for pictures.
They included Pamela Walsh and Steven Gallagher, who enjoyed meeting the darts star.
Graham added: “All our staff and guests wish him well and send a big thank you for the entertainment.”
