HOWZAT for some good news! Blackpool cricketer Steven Croft played a whole new ball game when he launched a new community lottery.
The Lancashire all-rounder visited Poulton YMCA’s new Y:Active Fitness Studio to officially launch the scheme between Lancashire County Cricket Club and Fylde Coast YMCA.
This new winning partnership gives lottery members the chance to win their share of a £100,000 annual prize pot every week.
Fifty per cent of each entry goes back into the Fylde Coast YMCA charity and LCCC’s Development Association to boost grass roots cricket and support young people across the county.
Steven, who ended Lancashire’s 77-year wait for the County Championships when he struck the winning runs against Somerset in September, said the lottery could not have come at a better time.
He said: “I think most of us could do with a little win at the moment and what’s even better with this Lotto Draw is knowing that even if you don’t win someone else is through the work of the YMCA and LCCC Development Team.
“Without initiatives like this to bolster the income these charities need, opportunities for local young sports people could be missed and having access to superb community training facilities such as the fitness studio here inside Poulton YMCA is critical to a young developing sports person.
“The winning is always important but on this occasion it’s the taking part that definitely counts.”
The YMCA Lotto Draw is available to join now at just £1 per lotto share.
Every £1 share gives the member a set of 10 unique numbers which are then placed into the draw every week with a weekly top cash prize of £1,000.
Mike Vernon, leisure director for Fylde Coast YMCA said: “This is a very exciting partnership for us and we’ll be looking to fulfil the YMCA’s vision of developing sports and access to sports for young people through the proceeds this initiative will generate.”
