A family is hoping to make town centre tavern the place to be for food and entertainment all week round.
Now in the hands of Edwards brothers Daniel, 24, and Ben, 23, The Cedar Tavern is aiming to stamp its mark as part of the regeneration as the middle of Blackpool.
And that’s not where the family association ends – as mum Melanie works in the kitchen to prepare a wide array of homemade dishes for the hungry customers.
But the pub, traditionally a key venue for new local bands, also wants to maintain its entertainment heritage.
Ben, who works as the pub’s front of house manager, said: “One thing we wanted to do when we took the pub on was to offer up the pub itself and say to bands ‘get involved in a big way’.
“On Saturday daytimes we have live artists from 2.30pm, and on Saturday nights we have a resident DJ.
“It’s a really good mix of music and food.
“We have music on in the background and it’s loud enough to hear the artists but you can also hear each other talk.
“It’s one of those venues you can come into and have a really nice meal with the family, and entertainment on too.
“We’ve got an awful lot going on.”
But the entertainment extends beyond the weekend.
A games night has recently been launched on Wednesdays including a quiz and Play Your Cards Right.
The Cedar is also holding an event to coincide with Armed Forces Day on Saturday June 29, while also offering a selection of different real ales.
Ben added: “We’ve got four different taps of real ale and we’re also about to introduce a real cider too.
“For armed forces week we’re offering discount to anyone with military ID.”
The Cedar Tavern is open 11am to 11pm Monday to Thursday, 11am to midnight on Friday and Saturday, and 11am to 10pm on Sunday.
