AROUND 50 jobs are set to be created after a Fylde Coast care home company won funding for a new project.

Family-owned Lake View Rest Homes is to build a new purpose built 78-bed care home on the seafront in St Annes, creating the new jobs for the local economy when it opens later this year.

Barclays Bank has provided the cash for the project at The Moorings which will take place in two stages.

The Wood family already have a rest home at the site and existing residents will remain until the first part is ready for them to move into in October.

The old Moorings on North Promenade would then be demolished and the new building would continue over the following 45 weeks.

The firm was founded by Rose Marie Wood who opened Rosewood Lodge Retirement Home 21 years ago.

It also runs the Lakeview Retirement Home and Newfield Lodge Care Home.

Nick Wood, of Lake View, said: “The new home will be a great addition to the group providing high quality facilities while at the same time ensuring that we retain the values and ethos on which are reputation has been built.”

“Further, this new project will help the local area with the creation of some 50 jobs, keeping Lakeview Rest Homes Ltd at the heart of the community.”

He said the revamped home would have high quality bedrooms and facilities such as a cinema room, a salon and a roof garden.

Stuart Barrie, corporate banking relationship director at Barclays in Lancashire, said: “Barclays is committed to using our industry expertise within the healthcare sector to support experienced and professional operators.”
