A car fire outside a hotel in Blackpool town centre is thought to have been started deliberately.

A passer-by spotted flames coming from the silver Renault Megane outside the Ramsden Arms, on Talbot Road, and called firefighters at around 1.30am today.

A passer-by reported seeing flames coming from the car.

Lancashire Police

Police were called by Lancashire Fire and Rescue after early investigations suggested the blaze was “suspicious”.

Investigations are ongoing and police were this morning due to attend the scene to gather evidence.

A Lancashire Fire and Rescue spokesman said: “We were called to a car fire in the early hours of this morning.

“Nobody was hurt but the fire is being treated as suspicious.”

A Lancashire Police spokesman added: “We were called by the fire service at 1.45am.

“A silver Renault Megane had been set alight and a passer-by reported seeing flames coming from the car.

“We are making further inquiries.”
