A HUGE cannabis farm has been unearthed at a prominent seafront hotel.
Police discovered hundreds of mature plants in the disused Sherwood Hotel, on the Promenade, North Shore, following a tip off from a member of the public.
When officers raided the former 25-bedroom hotel, plants were found in nearly every room and a sophisticated growing operation had been set up with extensive lighting and cultivation equipment across the five storey building.
In one room alone, officers found 150 plants, with an estimated street value of £40,000.
Police also seized 252 plants, worth an estimated £76,000, from a van.
Forensic teams have been at the hotel gathering evidence since the discovery at around 3am on Monday.
