Political campaigner Peter Tatchell (pictured) will be coming to Blackpool’s annual Pride Festival on June 14.
Mr Tatchell, a champion of gay rights, will join the event’s parade from Central Pier, to the opening ceremony in St John’s Square, at noon.
He said: “I am proud to support Blackpool Pride Festival. The lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community makes a vibrant, positive contribution to Blackpool; enriching its cultural diversity. As well as being a fabulous celebration and party, this festival is an important manifestation of our continuing campaign for LGBT dignity, respect, acceptance and human rights.”
Pride takes place at the iconic Winter Gardens over the second weekend of June and, this year, highlights will include the Sugar Dandies and the European Same Sex Dance Championships.
Among the acts due to perform are 5th Story, The Krankies, Black Lace and Christopher Maloney.
