A leading councillor has spoken about his decision to step down from his role on Blackpool Council’s executive.
Coun Gary Coleman, who will relinquish his position as cabinet member for regeneration on May 13, wants to spend more time with his family.
He said: “I look forward to continuing as a councillor but feel being in the cabinet is keeping me away from seeing my family just too much.
“It would be great to work solely as a portfolio holder on the council but contrary to public opinion the financial reality is that if you are not retired most of us have to work a full time job as well.
“I am blessed that I have two wonderful daughters, Bethanie who is 11 and Rebecca, nine. I treasure my time with them but I am aware that they are growing up so fast.
“So it is with a heavy heart that I stand down and hand over my portfolio.”
