Our picture shows a chunk of the Blackpool icon missing.
But the resort is not set to see one of its most popular rides disappear.
The famous big wheel on Central Pier is in fact being re-assembled following its regular refurbishment.
The attraction is dismantled every three years for a full mechanical check and renovation.
For the past few days, staff have been busy re-erecting the ride which is set to be open again in time for the Easter break.
The refurbishment has been undertaken by a specialist company in Cumbria.
Peter Sedgwick, who operates the wheel, said: “The wheel is taken away every three years to be refurbished right the way through.
“We are now putting it back up and expect it to re-open by the middle of next week in time for Easter.
“We have to put the cranes on the beach which means it takes a bit longer as we can only work when the tide is out.
“The wheel is one of Blackpool’s icons and everyone who comes to Blackpool wants to ride on it.”
