Staff at three Blackpool care homes are celebrating after being named in the top 20 in the region.

The Glen Tanar Rest Home, King Edward Care for the Elderly and The Willows Care Home were chosen out of more than 2,000 in the North West.

The award was based on the care homes’ recommendations from their residents, plus friends and relatives of residents.

Davina Ludlow, Director of carehome.co.uk, said: “We feel the best people to rate a care home are the residents and their families and friends.

“Their recommendations show that so many care homes are warm and inviting places to live where residents receive loving and compassionate care.

“Glen Tanar, King Edward Care for the Elderly and The Willows Care Home have proved that they provide excellent care and we’d like to congratulate them on being top recommended homes in North West England!

“It’s a wonderful achievement to be recognised for being a highly recommended home by the very people you care for.

“Looking for the right care home can be tough. We hope our awards will help to make people’s search that little bit easier.”

Owner of Glen Tanar, in Cavendish Road, Pamela Mathauda said: “When I heard the news I was overjoyed.

“The manager and her team work extremely hard to ensure that the residents of the home are well cared for in a friendly, homely environment. Our ethos is to ensure the residents receive outstanding care and live as
active a life as possible.

“The management and the care team constantly strive to provide the best care to the residents and always go that extra mile.

“The reviews received on the carehome.co.uk website reflect this.

“I thank the staff team for their continued support as they are the ones that make the home what it is. Our certificate is now displayed with pride in the homes reception area.”

Owner of the King Edward Care Home in Warbreck Drive, David Wheeler, said: “The management and staff from the King Edward Care Home are delighted to achieve the award.

“We pride ourselves in being dedicated to providing an ethos in the home which reflects the care and well-being of our residents as our main priority, and ensuring the residents have a warm, welcoming, and homely environment where they feel safe and content.

“In celebration of our achievement we are arranging a celebratory tea for residents and their families.”

Owner of The Willows Care Home in Midgeland Road, Paul Swithenbank, said:“Naturally we are delighted The Willows has been recognised as a Top 20 Recommended Care Home 2016. This is the third top 20 Recommendation the home has received in the past.

“This award comes days after The Willows was recognised by the Investor In People Gold Award.”
