Two resort tradesmen been named as the traders of the month after being voted for by residents using Blackpool Council’s Safe and Secure Directory.

Dave Docherty who runs 3D Environmental Services won the award for September and Derek Burdett of DB Property Repairs won the award for October.

To have won this award within our first year of trading is fantastic, especially as it has come as a result of great feedback from customers - the people that really matter

Drainage and pest company 3D Environmental, which are based in Chiswick Grove in Blackpool, scooped their prize after their customers commended them on their friendliness and honesty.

Proprietor Dave Docherty said: “To have won this award within our first year of trading is fantastic, especially as it has come as a result of great feedback from customers - the people that really matter.

“Our aim as a company is to provide the customer with great service at affordable prices.”

Derek Burdett of DB Property Repairs had only been on the scheme for one month when he was voted trader of the month for October and was delighted to win after such a short time.

Derek said “I am very pleased to be voted Trader of the Month for October and wanted to thank all my customers for their kind comments.”

He added “the Safe and Secure Scheme provides an invaluable service to the public and I am happy to be part of it”

Tim Coglan, Blackpool Council’s service manager for Public Protection, said: “The Safe and Secure Directory of trusted traders has been developed in partnership with Care and Repair, Age UK and the Police to provide consumers with confidence when employing traders in the home.

“Traders on our directory have to pass a number of criteria to ensure that people who use them get a good service and can steer clear of questionable traders. I would urge customers to always check the directory before calling a trader for help.” Visit www.blackpool.gov.uk/safeandsecure or call 01253 478375.
