A Fylde tourist attraction and hotel has been summoned to the Tower of London.

Luckily for the team from Ribby Hall Village it is not for any Henry VIII-style punishment but rather for praise as one of the finalists in the Investors in People scheme.

Ribby Hall Village has been named as a leader in people management practice globally, having been shortlisted in the Gold Employer of the Year category in the second annual IIP awards.

The awards, which received entries from around the world, celebrate the best people management practices amongst Investors in People-accredited businesses.

Winners will be announced at a spectacular awards ceremony and dinner at Her Majesty’s Royal Palace and Fortress, The Tower of London on June 24.

According to feedback from one of the Investors in People judges, Ribby Hall Village was: “An organisation that has created a culture that demonstrates its commitment to staff development, excellent service standards and continuous improvement.

“They describe in their award submission outstanding business results achieved following the design and delivery of a bespoke excellence programme of training. It describes how the company’s values are demonstrated at the Annual Staff Conference and Awards ceremony.”

The 15 awards categories recognise the accredited organisations that have achieved the highest standards. There are a range of awards categories, focusing on the main elements of what it means to be an Investor in People, from Excellence in Leadership and Management to Excellence in Social Responsibility to Leader of the Year and Best Newcomer.

Susan Houseman, director of business development including HR and training, said: “On reflection it’s incredible to think that we now employ more than 450 people, making us the largest tourism employer in the Fylde.

“We’re absolutely thrilled to be finalists in this year’s prestigious Investors in People awards. It is a clear indication of the sheer dedication and hard work that the team have provided to all other departments throughout The Village to ensure we maintain our five-star service and standards.

“We were amidst one of our largest recruitment drives on record when Investors in People notified us that we were finalists; which has spurred us on all the more to recruit only the best in class.

“We are continuing to recruit for 20 different positions throughout The Village, including the Spa Hotel, Papa John’s Pizzeria and takeaway, the health club, the nursery, the bar and grill, the Orangery, the business and banqueting venue and the new tapas bar.

Paul Devoy, head of IIP, said: “Once again we have been overwhelmed by the number and calibre of entries received for the Investors in People Awards.

“It’s fantastic to see so many organisations nominated for outperforming in their sector.”
