Blackpool-based training provider PHX Training has strengthened its senior management team with the appointment of a new operations manager.
Spencer Harrison, from Wigan, will oversee logistical operations, performance, and contract management across PHX’s 10 training centres in Lancashire and Cumbria.
The 42-year-old joins the company from Ashley Hunter Training Academy in Manchester, where he successfully grew the business over a period of 18 months.
Spencer’s expertise, spanning 13 years working in the training industry for national companies such as YMCA Training, will help him to further develop PHX Training and drive growth.
He also brings a knowledge of the education sector to the role, having worked in further education as a tutor at St Helens College in Merseyside.
Spencer said: “When I first met with PHX I was struck by how passionate the management team was. PHX has a very learner-centric ethos which is important to me as a former teacher, and it balances the needs of both education and business.
“I was at a stage where I’d achieved all I could in my former job and was ready to get my teeth into a new challenge. Operations is my passion and I’m thrilled to be joining such a dynamic and respected company.”
In a previous role, Spencer worked with disadvantaged learners from deprived areas. He took a group of them to London to lobby parliament about tackling gang culture and they met with the late MP, Paul Goggins, about the issue.
Dan Scott, managing director of PHX Training, said: “Spencer illustrates exactly what we were looking for in an operations manager; someone who is not only equipped with the right skills to get results, but who is committed to making a difference.”
