A DISPLAY business is showcasing ways to expand in tough economic conditions.

Paul Turner Displays, based in Stanley Avenue, Poulton, got off to a flying start after being formed in July last year.

Already, it counts the likes of computer hardware supplier ICT Direct, exclusive jeweller Boodles and marketing firm Reid Creative among its clients.

And owner Paul Turner, 49, said the downturn was helping his business thrive.

He added: “In this climate companies are buying smart so rather than employing someone to source stands, they can come to me with my 25 years’ experience and I can do it all for them.

“It is difficult for companies in the current climate to continue with many of their marketing activities, so any marketing projects they do instigate will need to work a lot harder than they have had to in the past.”

The firm is a consultancy providing totally independent advice and assistance to anyone considering purchasing an exhibition stand or signage product, including reusable stands which can be taken from exhibition to exhibition.

Mr Turner added: “I fall into the gap where customers want to exhibit but don’t know what to buy, and those with large exhibition stands wanting to downsize who don’t know what’s on the market.

“It’s not the sort of knowledge you pick up every day.”

Gavin Hawthorne from Reid Creative said: “Our brief to Paul was to produce a portable exhibition system to fit in with our client’s UK marketing strategy. We discussed our ideas and concepts with Paul and he provided us with a really innovative solution that met our client’s requirements within budget. They are now considering expanding the system for use across their European and Asian markets.”

The firm also offers exhibition stand management among its services, should the exhibitor not want to send staff along.

Mr Turner originally trained as a photographic printer back in the 1980s and opened a photographic laboratory in the 1990s and oversaw the shift from photographic to digital printing.
