Happy Days Childcare, which has five nurseries, and Home Instead Senior Care Lytham & Wyre, which cares for older people across the Fylde Coast, have appointed Doug Middlemass as Recruitment and Retention Officer.

Both companies are owned by the Hoyle family.

Doug, who is married with one son, brings a wealth of experience to his new role, having previously worked in the recruitment, employment and education sectors.

He has also served with the RAF in the UK, Europe and North America, with his final tour being as an Armed Forces Recruitment Officer in Gloucestershire.

He is the son of footballer Clive Middlemass, who played professionally at Leeds United and was manager at Carlisle United and Assistant Manager at Bristol City and Burnley, as well as being Chief Scout at Burnley, Preston North End and Derby.

Doug has carried on in his father’s footsteps and was also a football scout for his father at Burnley, Preston and Derby County, a role which is helped by his recruitment background, spotting the talent in people and then helping to nurture that talent.

Jackie Hoyle said: “Happy Days Childcare and Home Instead Senior Care have a lot of synergy. Caring is what we do, from babies and children to older people. It’s lovely to think we are able to be such a part of the local community here in Blackpool.

“We are really pleased that Doug has joined us, we are always looking for dedicated, caring people to join our team and he will be heading up this area of the business, as well as developing and supporting our existing employees through our training academy.”

Doug said: “I am delighted to have joined both these companies. They not only treat their clients, their families and their children as VIPs but also their staff.

“I get a lot of job satisfaction from being part of a team which is quite literally person-centred.

“It’s hugely rewarding to give someone a step up in their career, helping and supporting them to be the best they can.”

Happy Days operates nurseries and pre-schools in Poulton-le-Fylde, Anchorsholme, Blackpool, Norbreck, and Ansdell., Home Instead Senior Care provides specialist care so elderly people can continue living in their own homes.
