Staff at two stores are celebrating after they scooped prizes in this year’s Blackpool Best Dressed Christmas Window competition.

Blackpool Mayor Coun Val Haynes, who judged the competition, chose Poundstretchers on Albert Road as winner of the national chain store prize, and Charabanc on Coronation Street as best independent store.

Eileen Ormand, Blackpool’s Town Centre and BID (Business Improvement District) manager, said: “Blackpool BID has been running the Best Dressed Christmas Window Competition for nine years and the windows get
better year after year.

“Well done to our two winners and a big thank you to Mayor Coun Val Haynes for taking the time to choose them.”

Poundstretcher manager Angie Finnerty said: “We are thrilled to have won and look forward to all our loyal customers seeing the trophy displayed in our Christmas window. The Poundstretcher in-store team work very hard to make our Blackpool store special.”

One of the directors of Charabanc, Duncan Hodgson said: “We are delighted to receive this trophy.

“Profits from Charabanc are reinvested into providing free activities for the residents of Blackpool so it is fantastic to be recognised in this way. We’d also like to thank our dedicated team of volunteers who make all of our activities possible.”
