BLACKPOOL is officially the best in Europe for affordable family fun according to a new report.
As the Pound continues to plummet in value against the Euro – more UK tourists are opting to holiday on home soil.
But buying holiday essentials and enjoying days out is better value out in Blackpool than anywhere else in the Eurozone according to a survey by the Post Office.
It reveals a typical holiday shopping basket – which includes a family meal out, a water park trip, drinks and even a bucket and spade costs just £126.37 – a third less than Sorrento in Italy (right) at £198. Spain’s Costa Del Sol was revealed at the most affordable in the Eurozone with holiday essentials costing £130.
This week a pound brought just 1.02 Euros but at its launch in 2002, it was worth 1.5.
But the price of a bargain break is music to the ears of these resort holiday makers. David Wylde, 28 and Emma Harratt, 27 travelled from Doncaster with their two children. Emma said: “I’m not surprised Blackpool is the cheapest, we didn’t even consider going abroad.
“We’ve been here three days and found the prices very fair. The boys have loved it.”
Joyce Wylie and husband Scott travelled from Scotland with their son Owen. Joyce said: “We’re here for a fortnight because Blackpool is so affordable.
“We like the fact you can make your stay as cheap or expensive as you like.”
