A BLACKPOOL student has launched a successful business – which he is operating at the same time as studying.
Jordan Foy, 19, who attends Blackpool Sixth Form College, has set up a photography business and has already secured a number of contracts with businesses in Blackpool.
The student, who is studying graphics, photography and IT at the college, said: “It is going really well at the moment.
“I did a shoot yesterday which was landscapes of Blackpool.
“And I’ve worked with hoteliers providing them with shots for brochures.”
Mr Foy has set up his own website www.wix.com/jordanfoy/jordan-foy to showcase his talents and is hoping to attract yet more business.
He added: “It’s about looking and looking and looking for more jobs and making as many contacts as possible.
“I’ve always liked photography, ever since I was young.
“I really enjoyed taking photographs on family holidays and I love looking at other people’s photographs.”
Jordan recently took a series of photographs for the new Bentleys Hotel in Blackpool – and ended up working alongside Hotel Inspector Alex Polizzi as she helped relaunch the Blackpool bed and breakfast.
And last week he was employed by Merlin Entertainments – the second-biggest entertainment group in the world – to take photographs at the VIP opening of Blackpool’s new Madame Tussauds attraction.
Jordan added: “I am able to work around my studies.
“My courses involve a lot of coursework so I can set up shoots around that and it’s great to be able to earn a lot of money and be studying at the same time. I don’t think anyone else is working and studying on my course.”
Claire Smith, president of StayBlackpool, said that she was delighted to help Jordan forge ahead with his career.
She added: “He came to us and introduced himself and I was only too glad to give his details to our members.
“He’s making an effort, getting off his backside, and promoting himself the right way.”
