Mark Schofield has been appointed president of the North West Society of Chartered Accountants.

He takes the reins from past president Les Nutter, managing partner at Cassons, who led the society during 2012 / 2013.

Mr Schofield will support the Society’s 1,750 members across Lancashire and South Cumbria, which forms part of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW).

His primary role will be to oversee the delivery of a range of services for members including a series of CPD courses, an annual awards dinner, a variety of technical and networking events and discussion groups as well as representing the interests of Chartered Accountants to the wider business community.

Mr Schofield said: “It is a real honour to able to represent the North West Society of Chartered Accountants.

“As President I hope to encourage more local members to engage with the society to ensure that the views of Chartered Accountants are promoted effectively both locally and nationally.”

The President and North West Society committee invited members celebrating 50 years of membership of the ICAEW to join them at the society’s Annual General Meeting and celebration dinner which was held in their honour at Barton Grange Hotel.
