A FORMER market stallholder is reaping the rewards after taking retail premises in Blackpool town centre.
Hugh Tennant has seen customer numbers increase around 30 per cent after moving his spice, biscuit and speciality tea firm Harvest Gold onto Abingdon Street from Abingdon Street Market.
Mr Tennant said he still believed in the power of the market, despite leaving it. He added: “It helps us because the more people that see the market will see the shop, and vice-versa.
“It has gone well so far and our customer numbers are up.”
The store, which sells 131 loose herbs and spices, along with speciality teas and biscuits was in the market for 29 years before making the leap to the High Street.
Town centre BID manager Eileen Ormand said: “I hope the works in Birley Street and St John’s Square will help attract customers.
