Twelve new jobs are set to be created by the opening of a new sandwich shop.

The store, which is part of the Subway chain and will be located on Waterloo Road, South Shore. will open this Saturday.

It is part-owned by three times Dancing on Ice champion, Dan Whiston, and British Olympic ice skater and Dancing on Ice judge, Karen Barber. The celebrity pair have partnered with Subway franchisees, Ben and Anne Wade, enabling the couple to expand their portfolio of stores. Blackpool-based Ben and Anne now own and operate five Subway stores, three in partnership with Dan and Karen, across Blackpool, Preston, Lytham, St Annes and Poulton – employing almost 60 people. The new store on Waterloo Road will have indoor seating for 24 people and will be open 7am to 10pm Monday to Saturday and 9am to 9pm on Sundays.

Anne said: “Ben and I have been friends with Dan since our schooldays, so it seemed a good opportunity for us to form a business partnership together, along with Karen.

“It’s great to be able to go into business with your friends, people that you trust and enjoy spending time with.”

Neil Denny, Subway regional development agent, added: “The Subway brand is made up of hundreds of local entrepreneurs like Ben and Anne, who have worked hard to build up their businesses in their local community, creating jobs for local people.

An official Grand Opening will be held on Saturday, June 14, where customers will get the chance to meet Dan and Coronation Street star Hayley Tamaddon from 11am.
