A SIXTH store is about to fill an empty space in a popular Blackpool shopping centre.

Children’s favourite Build-A-Bear Workshop, which allows customers to design and create their own cuddly toy, opens its doors on October 12 to compliment trading throughout the 300,000sq ft Houndshill.

And centre manager Debbs Lancelott said: “We are delighted to announce another new shop opening at Houndshill.

“Build-A-Bear Workshop will bring something new and exciting to the centre and will sit well within the already strong family tenant mix which includes Disney, Pandora and Millies Cookies.

The Blackpool store becomes one of 400 outlets around the world and will be a much-needed boost for Blackpool’s shopping offering following the recent closure of the nearby JJB Sports and Clinton’s Cards in the town centre.

The new shop, which fills an empty letting next to Superdrug, comes on the back of a successful summer for the centre.

Designer outlets Trespass and Duffer were joined by The Fragrance Shop, Millies Cookies and Vision Express in May when they all signed up to fill empty spaces in the Houndshill.

Maxine Clark, founder and chief executive bear of Build-A-Bear Workshop, said: “I have had many guests who have visited our stores write to me and request that we bring Build-A-Bear Workshop to Blackpool.

“We are very excited about opening the new location and continuing to spread teddy bear hugs throughout the world.

“The shop is based on the premise that nearly everyone, regardless of age, has a special fondness for stuffed animals.

“When guests visit a Build-A-Bear Workshop store, they enter a lighthearted teddy bear-themed environment consisting of bear-making stations, over 30 stuffed animals to make, including bears, dogs, cats, bunnies, monkeys and a series of Beary Limited edition Collectibear animals.”
