A resort hotel firm is preparing to serve 23,000 Christmas lunches to its customers on a festive break.

Choice Hotels, which has The Claremont Hotel, The Viking Hotel and The Cliffs in Blackpool, as well as hotels in the Lake District, requires 195,000 sprouts and 1,088 tins of biscuits for the big day.

Eddie Nelder, director at Choice Hotels, said: “We have noticed there is an increasing trend of people wanting to eat their main Christmas meal in a restaurant, rather than cooking it themselves.

“Christmas is now a much grander affair than it was 10 to 15 years ago, when things were more casual.”

The firm’s Christmas breaks have been designed with a focus on spending time with family and friends and include Christmas treats like a free trip to Blackpool Tower, afternoon tea and cakes, and live entertainment.
