A Fylde coast author is preparing for the launch of his next book – his first private detective novel.

Peter Hodgson’s book, Rippercide, is released next week, and after almost eight years in the making it’s an exciting time for its author.

Peter has already seen success with his first book Critical Murder, published in 2009, and then two years later with Jack the Ripper – Through the Mists of Time, which was a nonfictional look into the Victorian London murders.

But Rippercide has been in Peter’s thoughts for some time.

He said: “I’ve always wanted to write a private detective versus serial killer novel, and that’s exactly what this book is about.

“I’ve always had the private detective in mind and I knew my serial killer was going to emulate Jack the Ripper. And of course I knew I wanted to include a heroine and love interest for the main character.”

Rippercide is set in Peter’s home town – Blackpool – and readers will come across some familiar places, albeit with slightly different names.

Peter, of Wyre Grove, has made Stanley Park into Aristor Park, Poulton becomes Wiconstall and Preston has been transformed into Sedgeburn.

But Peter, 58, has done his research, and spent some time visiting various parts of Blackpool to come up with his best crime scenes.

Rippercide is released on June 5, and Peter will sign copies at Waterstones on June 28 from 12.30pm to 2.30pm.
