It is fair enough to say tourism chiefs are shouting about Blackpool from the rooftops – even the Tower tops!

The resort’s 2014 destination guide – Blackpool Now – was launched from 518ft and the very top of Blackpool Tower.

And now people across the UK and further afield are being urged to see where they can take the annual guide of what to see and where to stay in Blackpool.

Whether it is up Ben Nevis, the London Eye, New York’s Empire State Building, the team behind the brochure – Visit Blackpool – want to see how high people can take it as part of a special photographic competition.

Coun Graham Cain, Blackpool Council’s Cabinet Member for Tourism and Leisure, said: “The 2014 Blackpool Destination Guide is packed full of great ideas for the perfect family holiday in the UK’s most popular seaside resort.

“By asking people to take the guide to an unusual spot and snap a photo it will really help spread the word about what a great resort Blackpool is.”

Blackpool Now was launched from the top of The Tower with the help of resident maintenance team leader Paul Hulley.

Paul, who celebrates his 30th year at The Tower this year, said he was delighted to be able to help with the launch.

He said: “Nothing beats standing out on The Tower and seeing the magnificent views over Blackpool. This is definitely the perfect place to launch Blackpool Now and I’m delighted I was able to help out.

“It can get a bit hairy up there sometimes when you’re working but it’s certainly worth it with those views.”

All you need to enter the competition is to get a copy of Blackpool Now, take it out for the day and get snapping with your camera.

All photos will be shared on VisitBlackpool’s website and a winner will be picked at random.

The winner receives a prize of a three-night stay at the resort’s Hilton Hotel for four people as well as a selection of top attraction tickets.

You can pick up a copy of Blackpool Now from the resort’s Tourist Information Centre or by going to www.visitblackpool.com.

You can also download the guide at www.visitblackpool.com and take a picture of you reading it on your phone or tablet.
