Small businesses on the Fylde Coast are being urged to enter a competition which has the backing of TV business figure Karren Brady.
The Apprentice co-star and vice-chairman of West Ham Utd will be taking part in the Federation of Small Businesses and WorldPay’s 2014 FSB WorldPay UK Business Awards.
Deadline is this Friday for the awards which take place on May 21 at the London Hilton Waldorf hotel and Karren – who was recently honoured with a CBE for services to entrepreneurship and women in business – will deliver a keynote speech during the ceremony, announce each of the category winners, and the overall awards winner.
She said: “I’m thrilled to be involved and it will be a huge honour to meet and present the awards to the winners.
“I know all too well from my role as the Small Business Ambassador to the Conservative Party that SMEs and entrepreneurs are the back bone to our economy and they should be championed and acknowledged for their contributions.”
Back for a second year, the awards, which had 600 entries last year, are designed to raise the profile of small businesses across the UK.
Colin Willman, Chairman FSB, said: “There’s still time to enter, so we’re urging all small businesses to consider entering, as not only will you get to meet Karren Brady, but each of the four category winners will receive a prize fund of £4,500, plus a half-day Marketing workshop.
The awards are divided into four categories; Business Innovation, Young Entrepreneur, Micro Business and Online Business.
