Genting has announced the appointment of Jim Firth, as the new general manager of its Blackpool casino and restaurant.

Following a £500,000 refurbishment, the casino on Queen’s Promenade re-launched in November 2013.

The historic and distinctive castle-shaped venue, which has been the site of a casino for more than 25 years, employs more than 70 part-time and full-time staff, and has just been transformed.

At the heart of the casino is its Fahrenheit bar and restaurant, Blackpool’s newest dining and cocktails experience.

Jim, 44, started in the industry as a valet and, in a career spanning 25 years, has worked in a number of prestigious casinos from London to Glasgow.

Prior to his appointment, he spent 11 years with Gala Coral Group in a range of senior roles including operations development director and regional manager for the North and West.

His experience also includes roles at Ladbrokes and Stakis Casinos.

Jim said: “This is an exciting time to join the Genting team. The refurbishment has transformed this iconic venue into a stylish destination which offers something for everyone, from the elegant restaurant and bar area to a high quality gaming floor.

“We now have a great platform to build on and I look forward to working with my team, local business leaders and the community.”
