A trio of long-serving hotel veterans, with nearly a century of service between them, have been recognised for their contributions to the family-run Choice Hotels group with gifts worth more than £1,000.
Andy Mills, 57 from Blackpool, has been with Choice Hotels for 40 years. In 1994 he became head chef at The Viking Hotel.
Andy said: “I really enjoy running the kitchen at The Viking. My favourite part of working for Choice is getting to know the customers on a personal level – it makes the job far more enjoyable and it’s great to see so many customers coming back just to say hello.” Sue Collum, 47, also from Blackpool, is the assistant restaurant manager at The Cliffs Hotel. Starting as a casual waitress at The Claremont Hotel when she was just 15 years old, Sue has worked her way up the ladder and is now responsible for ensuring that the entire restaurant runs smoothly. Sue said: “I have been with Choice Hotels for over 30 years, working across various hotels, and I have to say that the best part of the job has always been the relationship between the staff and customers.
“Everyone here is so friendly and we love mingling and catching up with regular guests and getting to know new ones.”
Finally, Pat Casey, 70 from Cheadle, works as an administration clerk across five hotels and has served with Choice Hotels for 21 years.
She said: “As I get to work across all five hotels, I meet so many new people every day from all over, whether it’s staff or customers.”
Eddie Nelder, director at Choice Hotels, said: “As a family business, we know how to reward hard work.”
