Holidaymakers are already planning their escape from the Fylde coast this summer – as booking holidays with one budget airline reached its peak.
Jet2.com, which flies out of Blackpool Airport, has seen a spike in bookings for Turkey, Greece and Croatia as residents made arrangements for their summer break during the doom and gloom of January.
A survey of 2,000 holidaymakers looked at how habits have changed, how much holidays mean to people and what people plan to do while on holiday.
And the poll found 64 per cent of residents will not leave home without their favourite brand of tea, toilet roll or their slippers.
Others who took part in the survey - 15 per cent - said their holiday is more important than Christmas.
Steve Heapy, CEO of Jet2.com, said: “With our Blackpool consumers more determined than ever to enjoy their much-loved holiday next year, we’re predicting our biggest year yet in 2014 – especially to our Eastern Mediterranean destinations.
“These findings really illustrate just how important holidays are in our annual calendar and it’s very interesting to see just how and where the majority of us are hoping to escape.”
