Plans for a new Costa Coffee outlet in Blackpool have been approved despite fears the development could spark parking problems in surrounding streets.
Blackpool Council has approved a planning application for the scheme on the KFC drive-through car park alongside the junction of George Street and Devonshire Road.
The development will lead to the loss of 14 car parking spaces.
This has, prompted some residents to object on the grounds that customers would use surrounding residential streets for parking.
But a transport survey on behalf of the applicant, London-based Erendale Properties, says there are enough spaces in the existing KFC car park to provide sufficient spare capacity during peak times.
The application, which will see a single storey building constructed on the land, was approved by planning officers using delegated powers.
It will be operated as a Costa Coffee franchise.
