Casino’s 24-hour bid set for decision

Blackpool Town Hall.

Blackpool Town Hall.

Councillors will next week decide upon a bid by a Blackpool casino to open around the clock.

Three objections have been received by Blackpool Council to the plans by Genting Casino on Queen’s Promenade, which can currently open from noon until 6am.

Casino bosses also want to serve alcohol on a 24-hour basis.

The application will be considered by the council’s licensing committee on Wednesday, May 7.

One of the objectors, Lorraine Cross, said lack of sleep due to anti-social behaviour and noise from cars “can throw you over the edge.”

She added: “There are residential properties in the surrounding area and it’s not fair on the people of Blackpool to be disturbed 24 hours a day seven days a week.”
