An award-winning Blackpool business is hoping to double its turnover with a change of software and a move to a new location.

The Ink Squid which supplies inks, toners and accessories for computers is set to move in June to new premises.

Currently at the Sycamore Trading Estate at Squires Gate, it will be heading for a 1,800 sq ft new building at Apollo Court on Whitehills business park.

Owner Adrian Meakin said the move was sparked by increasing orders from its world-wide net of customers.

He said: “This year had been really good and we have taken on an extra member of staff. We have four now.

“Chris Clancy is our new technical manager who helps out with our systems.

“We’ve had a really busy few months not only with customers but also with our new software eSellerPro.

“It is big boys’ software which allows us to list our entire stock on various channels and keep a close control.

“It makes it easy to list our products on many sites for example ebay.com in the US in Australia and Ireland easily.

“There is an automatic translation service too. It should enable us to double our turnover which is around £300,000 at the moment.

“I heard about it while on a business course from another online company UK Good Deals who won the BIBA online business award the year before us.

“They saw their turnover grow and put it down to the software.

“At the moment with every site, such as Amazon, you have a different spreadsheet to fill in which is time consuming.

“We have had to re-shoot all our products for the new system, that’s 3,500 photographs, but the hard work is already paying off and we can see a difference.

“We are introducing new products such as toners as well as photographic papers and USB sticks and it is all helping growth.

“Out current premises are now too small and so we are moving to Apollo Court, near Napthens where we will have 1000 sq ft of warehouse space and 8000 sq ft of office space on the first floor.”
