Businesses in Blackpool are to meet at the Pleasure Beach to find out about the possible benefits that fracking could bring to the Fylde.

The North West Energy Task Force is hosting the meeting at the Paradise Rooms from 5pm tonight.
The task force, which represents more than 450 business leaders, firms, academic economists, geo-scientists and engineers - has published a research paper in how communities could benefit from having shale gas developments sited near them.

It claims the controversial industry could bring benefits from increased investment, more jobs and higher than average salaries, as well as improved local infrastructure.

Rob Green (pictured), Head of Enterprise and Investment at the Blackpool Bay Area Company and a member of the Task Force, said: “Host communities in Lancashire cannot afford to ignore the considerable benefits to communities.”
